Everyone, at some point in their lives, has dreamed of being a special person, a great person. Who hasn’t thought of being the one to hit the home winning game? Who has never dreamed of becoming a queen coming home? And how often do we dream of becoming rich, or of being successful, or of being happy in our relationships?
Often, we dream big dreams and have good intentions. Unfortunately, our dreams always remain the same – dreams. And our desires easily collect dust from our roof.
This is a sad state of affairs in our lives. Instead of enjoying the thrill of self-indulgence, we are caught up in the daily grind of life.
But you know what? Life could be much better, if only we had learned to push ourselves to the limit.
The most common problem of setting goals is an impossible word. Most people hang around thinking that I can’t do this. It’s very difficult. Impossible. No one can do this.
However, if everyone thought so, there would be no invention, nothing new, and no progress in human achievement.
Remember that scientists were confused when they looked at this lowly bird. Theoretically, they say, a large bee can’t fly. Unfortunately for the bumble, the bee no one told her so. So fly.
On the other hand, some people suffer from nightmares and do not do them. The result? Dreams are broken, and old desires.
If you limit yourself with self-doubt, and with self-limiting thoughts, you will never be able to escape the past that you see as impossible. If you get too far into the sky without working for your goal, you will find yourself stuck in an impossible dream.
Try this exercise. Take a piece of paper and write down some of the goals in your life. Under one heading, write down the things you ‘know you can do’. Under one heading, write down ‘things you can do.’ And under one, write things ‘impossible to do.’
Now, look at all the topics striving daily to achieve goals below the ‘things you know you can do’. Find out when you will be able to accomplish it. Since you may be able to look at all of your goals under this heading, try to achieve goals under another heading — those that read ‘you can do it.’
As for the things you have written under the things I would have done have been achieved, you can move the goals below the ‘impossible’ to the ‘list of’ things you can do. ‘
As you go through this process, you will find that goals that you thought were impossible could easily be achieved. And the impossibility of first sighting is possible after all.
You see, the process here is not to limit your imagination. It’s a high point, and then start working toward that goal gradually. However, it is also unwise to set unreasonable goals for yourself.
Those who dream of pursuing worthless goals end up in despair and disappointment.
On the other hand, if you told a person a hundred years ago that a person might be on the moon, they would laugh at you. If you told them you could send a mail from here to the other side of the world in a few seconds, they would say you were crazy. However, with great desire and patience, these impossible dreams are now a reality.
Thomas Edison once said that wisdom is 1% inspiration and 99% sweat. Nothing could be further from the truth. To achieve one’s dreams, there must be work and morality.
Ask any exercise mouse and he will tell you that there will be no benefit unless you are taken out of your comfort zone.
So dream, friend! Don’t get caught up in your visual limitations. Think hard and work hard to achieve those dreams. As you climb the ladder of progress, you will be able to discover that the impossible has already become easier.
